One of the absolute best parts of the race so far has been the amazing team I get to call my family! We refer to our teams as our immediate family and the squad as our extended family… SO ACCURATE! I spend tons of time with these 6 ladies and I wouldn’t trade it for anything! We are still learning so much but are on a fast track to knowing each other’s lives like the back of our hands. We are also still adjusting to life away from home but having each other to do it with makes everything so much easier. “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven,” Matthew 5:13-16. Cierra- SPUNK. This girl has a way of turning every bad day and mood into a thing of the distant past and making the absolute most out of every situation. Her spiritual understanding and father-daughter relationship with the Lord is something I look up to and strive after. She loves people like it’s her job… AND SHE’S EMPLOYEE OF THE CENTURY! There’s not a room her smile doesn’t light up and her ability to make every individual feel welcome and so wanted is my favorite thing about this sweet chick! I really didn’t know how bad I needed a Cierra in my life until I had her and now that I do, I’M NEVER LETTING GO! @cierracordak.theworldrace.org
Acacia- SOUL. Never have I ever known someone my age that carries so much wisdom and knowledge about God and throws it around like confetti. This sweetheart has shown me how important intimacy with the father is and makes me want to chase it more and more. She is our team’s “counselor” because we know everything she says comes straight from God’s heart. She is also our little nature girl!!! She soaks up the sun like a flower and finds God in every single leaf and bug, it’s really awesome. Thankful beyond words for this one, LOVE YOU @acaciasachs.theworldrace.org
Katie- STRENGTH. Katie is one strong girl and inspires me every time I see her power through any hard situation. There are struggles and bad days for sure but she would never sit around and complain about it. Katie has been blessed with the most amazing artistic, photographic, and musical abilities and uses them so well to glorify The One who have them to her. She is our go-to artist for absolutely every situation and we know she works wonders behind a camera when we need to capture any moment. Lesser known fact… THIS GIRL CAN SING! She helped lead worship the other night for the first time and wow. We gladly added that on to the mental list of abilities God has blessed her with! Brittany- LIGHT. You’ll never know anyone like her. There’s not a room she doesn’t walk into and dominate. Every question, laugh, and statement catches the attention of every single person in the room. (fun fact: I’ve known Brittany since I was 7 when we went to elementary school together… she hasn’t changed) She has been sick 3/6 of the weeks we’ve been here but she does not let that affect the way she shines the Lord’s joy through everything she does. She feels others’ pain like it is her own and has the ability to making every person feel like 1 in a million. Brittany is so unlike any person I’ve ever known and I’m crazy blessed to have her sweet silly self on my team. GO CHECK HER OUT @brittanycarson.theworldrace.org
Kenzie-SCRIPT. Wow… this girl. Every word that comes out of her mouth and off of her fingers is directly from the author himself. She writes stories and poems with the most powerful language and detail. When she speaks she has this beautiful, serene, wise way about her words and I’m in awe every. single. time. She has the most insatiable hunger for the Word and asks questions about things I’ve never even heard of (which makes me feel so inadequate but it’s cool) and desires nothing more than to know the father so deeply and pour that knowledge out with every word. She is older than most of us and leads us so well but also goofs around and proves her childlikeness with no hesitation. Long story short… I ADMIRE @kenzijohnson.theworldrace.org
Abby- HEART. Swear she has the biggest one I’ve ever known. Tender, loving, kind, inclusive, BEAUTIFUL, funny, understanding, wise, careful, gentle, sweet, artsy… I could go on for the rest of the race but I think you’re getting the idea. I have also known Abby since I was 7 (super weird right? Her, Brittany, and I all went to school together in Lubbock) and we were BEST friends. The cross necklace I wear everyday of my life was a gift from her and a couple other friends when my mom passed away when I was 8. I was beyond excited that she was going to be on my squad and when I found out she’s on my team, I knew God had big plans for this friendship that got interrupted when I moved away! She teaches me what it looks like to live completely in God’s love and mercy every single day and to not take one step that is not in the spirit.
